WURK is firmly committed to supporting independent music. If you have a new release or will be performing in the area, we have several ways of helping you reach our listeners. For best results, please follow the suggestions below:

 

New releases: As a community radio station, we offer an eclectic mix of programs that includes one or more that would be appropriate for your music. We maintain a new release playbox that DJs often use. Our DJs have total control of their shows and we do not have playlist requirements, but everything that comes into the station receives at least some airplay. Please send CDs to:

If you are a Bay area performer or band, please indicate that as well – we have several local music shows and a strong focus on local and NC music, so let us know if you have a Bay area connection.

 

Unfortunately, we are not geared to process or manage individual songs that are emailed or can be downloaded, so please send hard copy CDs only. Also, we do track who is playing what, so we will be able to let you know which tracks are being played or how often.

 

Upcoming shows: If you’re playing a gig in the Triangle area (Hillsborough, St Pete, Clearwater, Pasco, and Polk County), we have a dedicated coming-soon playbox that DJs also use heavily. There are no time or venue restrictions – as soon as we receive your CD, we put it in the playbox. So the sooner we get it, the more time we have to spin it and plug the show. If you’re confident that we already have your most recent recording, you can simply send us a letter or postcard with date and venue info to the same address. Telephone calls are discouraged, as the folks who maintain the playbox may not get the message.
